Picture update!

Alrighty, so now I am just a little over 5 months postop and as of today I'm down to 207lb!! That is a grand total of 83 lbs!
Been a good girl eating plenty of protein, low carb, taking ALL of my vitamins daily.  I am working on getting more water in daily. I've cut out my tea intake and replaced it with my new favorite drink

Okay, and now for the NEW pictures!

Road blocks and thankfulness

From March 26th to April 26th....I have lost 5 lbs....this has been somewhat discouraging. Granted I have been working out ie: tennis/strength training. I hate being wrapped up in the "number game". I realize that being healthy is not only measured in pounds lost...but inches lost....increasing energy level...boosted self esteem etc. Finding other ways to measure my WLS success has been vital!  It's so easy to compare myself to others that are also 5 months postop and think, "hey...they've lost 10 lbs more than I have, what is the deal?!" Everyone's body is different...everyone has a different metabolism, different health problems etc.

So instead of saying, "I've only lost 5 lbs in a month", I would like to say.., "WOOO HOOO! I've lost 5lbs in a month!"
It's crazy to think that in just 9 lbs I will officially be back in the 100's! *haven't been there in YEARS*

I appologize for not having pics yet...I WILL get them...I must con someone into taking them soon.

Anyhow, that's all I've got for now. Have a great week everyone!

Let the workouts begin!

Okay, so yesterday (on a whim) my twin brother decides to come over to my apartment (since he lives in the building next to mine) and says, "hey Amy, Megan *wife* and I are going to K-Mart to buy some tennis raquets wanna join?"  To make a long story short, we were  hitting the apartment complex's tennis courts 45 minutes later. WOW what a workout! And fun too! We did an hour goofing off/playing yesterday and today Geoff and I played for 40 minutes! I am in shock that we enjoyed ourselves AND got a workout! I now know how Venus and Serina stay in such good shape! lol

I am now eating what is my new favorite happy food, Dannon Vanilla Greek yogurt...12 grams of protein and only 110 calories!!

So here's the tally: 1-day workout last week and 2 days so far this week. I'm also starting to track my food intake again on sparkpeople.com. This is a good habit because when I know I have to write it down...I want to make the most of my choices.

I am desperately trying not to weigh myself....I have this bad habit of wanting to weigh myself daily. I know this is not good...just habitual. I am determined NOT to weigh myself until Friday.

Anyhow, that is my update for now.
Have a great week everyone!

Update

Sorry for not updating last week, but last week was pretty crazy!
As of today, I'm down 4 more pounds making my total weight loss since Nov 24th 78lbs!
To put it into perspective...my BMI at 290 lbs was 49.8...NOW my BMI is 36.4

Last week I made an effort to exercise...I jogged on the treadmill for half a mile...I know...whoopie...but it was better than nothing. I'm trying to figure out what days to actually workout...cardio and strength training. I have some 'saggy areas' I would like to work on. I do much better if I have an actual schedule.
At work I run around like a mad woman and stand for 8 1/2 hours Mon-Fri, so I don't feel too terrible at the moment for not working out. I bought a pair of those sketcher shapeups and I love them! I can actually tell that my legs are firming up. Also love the squishiness of the shoes.

Today I have decided to be a lazy bum and do nothing. lol

Wow...only 13 more pounds to go until I'm back in the 100's again! I cannot tell you the last time my weight was in the 100's...seriously!

Anyhow, I hope everyone has a great week and I will try to post some new pics soon.

Labs are good!

So I got my labs drawn a few days ago and found out that almost all of my blood levels are perfect!
My triglycerides were 309 back in 2008 NOW they are 106.
My protein/albumin is excellent. B-12 level is in the 800 range. Calcium is normal as is my iron level.  I think the only labs that were not good were my elevated liver enzymes (probably from when I had my gallbladder taken out) and my TSH is low...which means that my Synthroid dosage will need to be decreased.

Knowing that my labs are good makes me feel so much better about my vitamin and eating regimen. Praise God!

Also lost another 3 lbs this week! (woo hoo!) I'm now down a grand total of 74lbs! It is hard to believe that only 17lbs to go until I am back in the 100's!!

Wow...this is informative

One of the things I'm working on is NOT drinking with a meal. It is very hard not to do. My surgeon's plan says not to drink ANYTHING 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after you eat. For the life of me I never understood why...but on OH RNY forum, one of the members posted the following video. This video demonstrates why we as RNY patient's should NOT drink with meals.

Enjoy!

Down...down...down!

Wooo hoo! As of today, I am 5 lbs lighter! In exactly 2 more pounds...I will have lost exactly half of  my excess body weight since November! (Praise God!) Wow...71 lbs!!  *happy booty dance*

I've been SOOO much better with my vitamin intake. I'm finally on a better vitamin schedule...something doable for my daily routine. Next week I think I get my blood taken to check my vitamin/iron/protein levels. So we shall see how my body has reacted thus far to both surgery and vitamin supplementation.

Work has kept me busy Mon-Fri, but I absolutely LOVE my job! I'm still trying to learn the ropes...because there are 4 different sections I must train in:
-General Surgery
-GYN surgery
-Orthopedic surgery (hips/knees/backs)
-Cysto surgery (urinary stuff)

So far I have trained in general surgery and now I'm in GYN surgery. Things are getting a lot easier and I'm finally starting to form a routine.

Anyhow, that's all I've got for this week's post. If anything else exciting happens, I will be sure to update.

Until next time, my awesome and faithful readers....take care!
