Weigh-In #5 and the doctor's visit

So today was weigh-in #5 and follow up appointment with my doctor. As of today I have lost a total of 19 pounds since December 2008! I know this equals out to about to a little over 2 lbs a month but it's better than going up or staying the same!

My doctor was very pleased with my results and said that I lost 2 extra pounds than the original goal weight she had set for me.

Also I gave her the average of all of my a.m. and p.m. blood sugars (a.m. = 96) (p.m. = 90), she said that I am still considered 'impaired glucose', but that my numbers are better.

Next we talked about the surgery. I informed her that as of next month it will have been a year since I started pursuing GBS, and that next month is also my LAST weigh-in month. My doctor told me she is putting together both a letter of recommendation and a referral to the surgeon's office (even though I've already been established with them since last year).

Tomorrow morning, I will be heading to a neighboring city to take one preop and one postop support group meeting, from 9am-11am. Then on wednesday I take the nutrition class

WOW...it's almost here! Next month is my FINAL weigh-in and then I can make my final appointment and send off the stuff to the insurance company!

I will continue to update, until next time everyone, take care!

Good news!

Today I called the surgeon's office and the lady in charge of insurance informed me that all I need to do is:
1.) Finish my weigh-in's (finished next month)
2.) Take 1-preop and 1-postop support group (On the 10th and 11th of this month)
3.) Take dietary class (on the 15th of this month)
4.) Have another referral to surgeon's office due to having new doctor and new insurance

Then I'll have my final appointment either August/September and they will send off my stuff to insurance company for approval.
Could it be?? I see a light at the end of the tunnel?!

I see my doctor on Friday and will be discussing all of this with her.

(prayers that all goes well!)

Weigh-In # 4

So I had weigh-in #4 this month and since January, I've lost 18 lbs! Not amazing, but still it is something.
I see my doctor on July 7th for an actual exam, (sadly I've had to reschedule due to work). I hope that my overall health has improved since last I saw her in March.

Well, I've got 2 more weigh-in's and I hope to be down at least 2 more lbs by the end of July. I still have those darn sweet cravings and find that when I drink more water and eat something protein-ish, that it goes away for the most part.

I'm currently trying to get information on when I can take the next nutrition class and support group meetings. I thoroughly enjoy the support group meetings, and look forward to re-taking them.
I'll be calling the surgeon's office this week to find out more information concerning requirements for my new insurance. (prayers please that I have, or will have all of the requirements done by September...oh yeah AND be approved through insurance to have the GBS).

Until next time everyone! Take care

Surgery Update!

Well, I've had one of those 'feelings' that I needed to call the surgeon's office...you know to check on my requirements and all.....BOY am I glad I did!!

It turns out that my company insurance is supposedly changing to United Healthcare, from Cariten.
The lady in charge of insurance information said she would know more on July 1st.

I've called corporate human resources where I work and left a message for them to call me ASAP concerning the changing insurance.

WOW....okay....I KNOW God is going to take care of this...I don't know how...but I KNOW He will take care of everything.

In the mean time, I'm retaking the nutrition class next month and will have my last weigh-in in August.

(Prayers that God will work this out wonderfully in my favor....whatever that may be)

Prisoner of Hope

"What would have become of me, had I not believed that I would see the Lord's goodness in the land of the living."

~Psalm 27:13

This scripture is an amazing depiction of how hope truly effects an attitude.

Growing up I was a Pollyanna-like child. I loved cheering people up and looking at the bright side of life. A positive attitude was just a natural part of my personality.

Now as I have gotten older and gone through certain trials in my life, I have found that it is much more difficult to maintain a positive attitude. Why is that??

Well after listening to a wonderful sermon on hope, I now know it is because of my lack of hope.

Hope truly is what allows us to have faith. Hope is an expected outlook that something good is going to happen for us. I want to be a prisoner of hope again.

Hope allows us to have a good attitude. Being 'locked up in hope' allows us to know that there is no situation too bad, too difficult for God to work.

Attitude is the name of the game. What can help attitude though? Well, I know that when something goes wrong in my life, my immediate reaction is to think something negative. And when I the more negative thoughts I have, there is a great probability that I will SAY something negative.

One of the most important things I've learned is that words are containers for power...they can carry creative or destructive power. I can say, something good is going to happen to me OR nothing good will ever happen to me.
Food for thought.....

Weigh in # 3

Well today was my third weigh in at the Dr's office. Since January I've lost a total of 15 lbs!!
That's roughly 3 lb/month....not as much as I'd like but still something and to that I say...PRAISE GOD!
Last month on the 27th, I had weigh in #3....the weight is coming off slowly....but anyways.

I finally went to the obgyn a few weeks ago and got put back on the Yaz for my PCOS. Already my acne has cleared up immensely!

In retro spec I am glad that I ended up not having the surgery in March, because I have been able to work through some personal issues with food and my emotions. Granted I do not to great every single day...but 3/4 of the time I do very well.
I'm exercising more ie: walking/playing Wii sports *which I love!*

I'm actually going to invest in EAS Sports for the Wii, it's gotten great reviews!

My blood sugar does fabulously when I do not eat after 8pm and when I eat 5-ish small meals a day. (high protein/high fiber/low starch)

Wow...only 3 more weigh in's, retake the nutrition class and then submit my paperwork to the insurance company!! (squeals!!)

For now I am just going to keep on keepin on!

I've come to a conclusion

glitter-graphics.com

I've had it in my mind for the past few months that GBS may not be for me.

Some of my family feels very strongly against the surgery, no doubt in regards to the fact that it is major surgery.

With this in mind, I've been going full force with my 1800 ADA diet and exercise. My doctor wants me to lose at least 6 lbs before my next visit with her in May.

My blood sugar has been great not to mention my body acts as though it likes me better at the moment. Even though these positive things have happened....I still have not lost any weight. And I am seriously giving this all I have!

It gets frustrating...just when I think I've got something that will work for me and help get this weight off...nothing happens!

Well, today I came to the realization that GBS is without a doubt a definite option for me. What helped me come to this conclusion, aside from the constant prayer about it, is a book called Before and After: Living and eating well after weight loss surgery, by Susan Maria Leach.

The author of this book describes in vivid detail her experience before, during and after her surgery. As she describes herself before the surgery, I feel as though she wrote about the feelings/situations that I go through on a daily basis.
Could it be true that my body would respond well to the surgery?

Well, on the 27th of this month, I will have weigh-in #2. I cannot believe that I only have 4 more months until I turn in all of my paperwork for insurance approval. To some, 4 months sounds long and dreadful...but to me...four months is not very far away!
My doctor will have to write a letter of recommendation for the surgery and I will retake the dietary class in June...then all I'll have to do is submit all of this to the surgeon's office and they will send it off for insurance approval.

I can only dream about how good I will finally feel in my own skin one of these days. I can only dream of the confidence and energy!

In the mean time, I will continue to pray for peace and patience.

Until next time....
